A. This has nothing to do with the type of computer you bought. You need to add a buddy and then start a chat with them and as the previous person said go to the IM window. Or if you prefer to meet others to chat and don't want to go to the hassle of AIM try out some other free chat sites like where all you have to do is have java installed on your browser (which most cases it already is)

How do you log out of a yahoo chat room?
Q. I go into yahoo chat sometimes. But when I close out of it. I still get messages from people saying I'm in the chat room still. I don't want to log out of messenger but just out of the chat room. Even if I totally shut down my computer and turn it back on. I keep getting messages from people saying I am in a chat room. There is no log out of chat.

So the chat room won't harm your computer but be safe and don't click on any unknown link that might lead you to a site loaded with virus and spyware of all sorts. You should be fine if you don't click on links from strangers.
